Shaping a more inclusive technological future.” — ELENA SINEL

WHY YOU SHOULD MEET ELENA

Elena Sinel has changed tens of thousands of students lives for the better, and introduced teenagers to the concept of AI, Hackathons, and entrepreneurship. She is becoming recognized around the world for being one of the most influential women in technology.

WHERE WE MET ELENA

Watson was growing up in the UK, although not fascinated by programming and Artificial Intelligence, but was, however, encouraged by his parents to participate in a trending organisation called a Teens in AI that was advertising its annual flagship Hackathon, hosted by their Founder and CEO, Elena Sinel. When he registered to join and went into Oracle’s building in Piccadilly Circus, London, the doors were opened to his long-term fascination in technology. We are truly pleased to introduce this series to one of the best mentors students can ever connect with, Elena Sinel.

In this series of YOU SHOULD MEET, we are honoured to introduce you to Elena Sinel, an internationally recognised social entrepreneur and award-winning founder of Teens in AI. Committed to catalysing change through technology, she empowers youth aged 12 to 18 to tackle real-world issues. Driven by a profound passion for AI and its potential to generate lasting positive impact, she launched Teens in AI at the United Nations’ AI for Good Global Summit to promote diversity and inclusion within the AI industry. In collaboration with FTSE 100 companies and governmental bodies worldwide, she has successfully incorporated future-oriented skills into today’s educational frameworks.

HOW WE MET ELENA

Elena was leading the Oracle Hackathon, where she grouped and organised teenagers and mentors together, where they could work together to solve real-world problems, like economic crises or ways to prevent pollution into the ocean. Elena was the first to welcome me into Teens in AI, and guided me to Chloe He, a wonderful mentor and friend, and a few other exceptionally motivated mentors willing to help students.

During our few days of Hackathon, she taught first-time students about building MVPs, startups, and expanding on their ideas on helping solve the problems of the world for good. Each group had a team of five students and two mentors, each student would have a specific role: developing the application, managing the presentation, managing the team, finding and conducting research analysis, and organising the business development side.

Towards the end, Elena brought each team into a pitching event, where mentors, judges and potential investors came to rate each team’s performance during the Hack.

HOW WE MET ELENA

Although Elena founded and hosts Teens in AI, she also develops connections with people and organisations across the EU and around the world, creating a social movement for helping bring women into technology and providing just opportunities for students from under-represented communities. Her work heavily revolves around teaching and helping youth in a well organised society and has brought nearly 14,000 young people from 75 countries together to learn.

She brings students together whether virtually or in-person, provides mentorship and groups the students together to compete in creating solutions to world changing problems in a restricted time frame. Although Elena is the orchestrator, the effect of mentors, organised problem solving, and time is what amplifies the teenagers’ experience to make these Hackathons truly memorable.

WHERE ELENA IS CREATING

Elena is building much more than a company and organisation, she’s leading and hosting the social movement for fairer opportunities for women in technology, and for students around the world to receive advanced education far beyond what traditional schooling can provide, as well as connecting mentors and government leaders with regions that need assistance.

WHERE TO MEET

You could potentially find her at the next local government council, but you can certainly reach with her over LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/elenasinel/, or at her company: https://www.TeensInAI.com
